JMP101: Introduction to LotusScript in Notes and Domino
Hands on intro to LotusScript from a Lotusphere 2002 session. Abstract: Lotusphere 2002 JMP101: Introduction to LotusScript in Notes and Domino Don't currently write LotusScript? Then here's a session for you. Beginners will find this session taking an easy pace with the rule that no question is too basic. We will take you from ""Hello World"" to some simple real world applications. Topics covered include: Agents, Events, Domino Objects (front and back end), Forms, Buttons and Mail. These are all the things we wish someone had told us when we started writing LotusScript!

    LotusScript for VB coders
Excellent introduction to LotusScript for people familiar with VB from Lotus. Excerpt: Everyone has their favorite language, and when asked to develop in a new one, anyone who has switched previously knows what a pain it can be. Not so when coming to LotusScript from Visual Basic, as they're variants on the same BASIC language. VB has devoted followers the world over. But anyone who is used to VB should pick up LotusScript with a minimum of fuss, so devoted VB fans can switch without pain to developing in the Notes environment. The main difference that VB coders will notice is that there are no GUI design tools in LotusScript. LotusScript relies on Notes for its GUI, and there is no need to directly create a customized user interface. This will seem strange to begin with, but it does make life easier. Rather than specifying exactly what a button should look like, the Notes Developer can simply insert a button on a form, give it a name, and start coding. Notes itself handles how to display the button. What will feel very familiar to VB coders is the way code is inserted in each element. For example, each button on a Notes form has a Click event. Code placed within that event will execute when the button is clicked by the user.

  • Debugging LotusScript -The Domino development environment includes a debugger for LotusScript code—a very handy tool. The Domino Designer help describes how to use this debugger. In this first of a two-part article series, we examine the debugger in detail with illustrations and examples. In addition, we list several common LotusScript error messages and show the coding errors that often cause them. In Part 2, we'll explain how to improve error reporting in your applications. We'll also discuss situations in which the debugger doesn't help. "
  • Custom Class in LotusScript: A few more Question. -The LotusScript language in Domino is very powerful once you find out that you can create custom classes with it. I´m going to write some articles about creating great helper classes, and start off with the basics of creating user classes. I am NOT going to explain why object oriented programming is better than procedure programming "
  • LotusScript agents and the Web -LotusScript Agents are powerful tools that can be used in a variety of ways. I often use them to move documents through an Approval Cycle by having the Approver click on a button to either Approve or Deny the document. This works well in Lotus Notes, but how do you get the same functionality over the Web?
