About Lotus Workflow -Lotus Workflow extends the workflow capabilities of Domino to provide the most powerful workflow management system available. Mission-critical workflow applications can now be supported and maintained, rolled out across the enterprise, and quickly modified as processes evolve. By providing point-and-click tools and reusable object libraries for routing rules, role assignment, deadline handling, and task automation, even complex processes can be automated with little or no programming.
Producing reports in Lotus Workflow -Wouldn't it be nice if you could open a Lotus Workflow document that is going through a workflow process and immediately see:
Where this document has been?
What decisions were made?
How long each activity had taken?
And if you stored this information inside a single binder document (rather than separate audit trail documents), you could create views that slice and dice the information in various ways to provide you and your management with valuable insights. Of course, Lotus Workflow includes viewers for presenting graphical information about single jobs. But there are times that you may prefer to see this data as text in a format that you can use to construct Workflow-related analysis reports. The following screen shows an example
Workflow 'Developer Tips' -Welcome to our new Developer Tip section! We have created what we hope are some valuable tips and programming techniques for developers to use when building applications with Domino Workflow. We will keep this area active and submit new tips on a regular basis.
In this section you will be introduced to ideas and various techniques on how to work with Domino Workflow. You will also get a chance to meet some of our developers and other team members.
Lotus Workflow Technical Articles -
Using Domino Workflow -In this book we describe how to support your business processes with Domino Workflow. We do this with an example scenario, to which we add enhancements and variations throughout the book. First, we describe, step by step, a full implementation of a simple process using the built-in Domino Workflow functionality. Next, we show how to enable our application for Web access, before walking through a case study where we enable an existing Domino application with Domino Workflow. In the latter part of the book we discuss topics like customization, advanced techniques, the organization directory, and integration with other systems.
The examples used in this book are available on the IBM Redbooks Web site.
This redbook is written for Domino Workflow solution designers and programmers, customers, Business Partners, and other members of the IBM and Lotus community who need a good technical understanding of how to use Domino Workflow.
Using Domino? Why You Need Lotus Workflow -The drawback in just using Notes/Domino to build workflow applications is that the workflow piece is hard-coded into forms. Any changes in the application or the organization require recoding which takes time, money and people resources. Domino stores all information in a single space. This makes it more difficult to develop sophisticated workflow applications and even more difficult to change them later on.
Lotus Workflow separates key workflow elements so that changes in one element do not affect changes in the others. Key elements include:
work routing rules
the people, their roles and organizational context
applications, forms and documents that are being worked on a routed during a workflow process.
